I’m about to get all controversial on y’all. I saw this quote on Instagram not too long ago and I chuckled and thought, “yep, that is so me”. I mean I try not to say swear words but it does happen. I’m not perfect nor do I want to be. That would boring. Right?
The first time I saw ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ I was hooked on the phrase “Dammit Janet”. ( I still say it) Then I really branched out. The F word was my fav. (I know I am so going to you know where) Flash forward a decade and we started having kids. I had to clean up my mouth and set a better example for these little angels.
Then they became toddlers and all bets were off. They pushed me to my limits. Every single day. It’s like they wanted me to swear. They loved watching my face get all red and me biting my tongue. Yet I tried really hard not to say the F word. The other words weren’t so bad right?
Then it happened. Thing 1 was talking up a storm at an early age. But he couldn’t pronounce the “TR” sound. Like in Truck. Instead, he used F. The first time it happened was at lunch while visiting my parents. We were in a Wendy’s and a fire truck went by. Thing 1 was so excited he stood up in his chair and screamed, “fire fu@&” papa! My dad nearly had a stroke and I couldn’t be prouder. My dad hated the f word and here was his precious first grandchild screaming from the top of the table in a crowded Wendy’s.
When the kids were a little older and heard me swear I’d tell them they were ‘mommy words’ and they weren’t allowed to use them. Incredibly they didn’t say them. But they did tell their dad on me when they didn’t get their way. Don’t worry, I always got even. 🙂
So what’s the controversy? Well I read were some women saw a t-shirt with ‘I love Jesus but I cuss a little” and she went ballistic. She was all people who swear don’t love Jesus and how it’s a sin to cuss etc. And I’m like hold up Ms. Self-righteous crazy lady. I mean were swear words even invented back in Jesus’s day? I know the bible says not to use unwholesome words or something like that. So would words like dang it or shoot be unwholesome when used when you slam your finger in the door or when you hit your shin on the bed frame when making the freaking bed? Probably.
Point is, I do love Jesus. And I cuss a little. I try not to cuss but it’s better than crying. Especially when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night with the light off and you think you just stepped on a spider. Just saying.
**There is a great little shop on Facebook where they sell these cute T’s and it’s called Crazy Cool Threads. Here is a picture
I hope they don’t mind me sharing their stuff but hopefully they will forgive me if they do mind. 😉

Haha, a while back I wrote a long post about swearing… about how it’s funny that some words are bad, even when other words for the same thing are alright. How the context of the word changes the degree of dirtiness… how swear words have different values in British and American English.
Also, how weird it is that people can say vile things on internet threads, but aren’t allowed to swear. Even if it’s swearing against the vile things.
Had to pull the post, though, because it was too controversial. People really, really get worked up about swearing.

People do get crazy over words! So funny to me. I do try to be mindful around people who hate swear words. But it’s so hard. Lol

Yes! I try not to swear on my blog, because you never know how sensitive people are. I’m always surprised by how much it can upset them.

This is such a brilliant post!!! Even though we love Jesus and we aim to be better people everyday, it still doesn’t imply were angels yet!
When Dude was small one of my friends kept on asking him to say the word “vlakvark” which is warthog in Afrikaans, my native language. He couldn’t say the word properly and would very enthusiastically reply “fuck-fuck”. Every damn time.
Hence the repeated request.

Oooh ladies I could go on and on about this subject..I was raised up in church my daddy was the song leader and his tempo and big big personality truly helped the growth of the whole church and his enthusiasm about Jesus and his bold mouth and. His laughter was straight from the gut n heart and he never put on the dog or tried to be something that he was not just because somebody might take offense to how he expressed himself he truly believed I think that only Jesus himself validated him and he believed that jesus already knew his words before he ever spoke them as in he already knew what my dad was thinking in his head n heart and why not just let him edit what he meant and in his thinking he kinda meant filter the cussing by straining it through. My dads heart .lol..and his heart was surely in love with our father in heaven .yep I grew up in a cuss camp pretty much myself but I had the utmost respect for those who can restrain I never cussed in church that I can remember not sure how that worked. Other than Jesus himself was loving me enough and knew my heart enough that he like helped me out with his holy spirit hand over my mouth picturing this in my head like we do as moms when we automatically reach out to hold an already restrained child in place if we have to brake hard..lol..Jesus knows our hearts n our ways he knows those who love him and those who have a huge need to make sure they call ya out in public to make a show of how much favor they have than us lowly cussers .ha..I say if they use the time spent on judging n correcting folks on excepting them in fellowship warts n all that they would be head dog at the biggest gathering of Jesus fans ever recorded in their home church …I do love Jesus and I cuss way too much bet i still am gonna be flying vip first class to heaven , sitting right up under old proper patty with her PURSED lips and her gripped skinny arse stuck to the seat in complete shock that she and i are pretty much the exact level of saved when it boils down to the real reason Jesus died to save. All these sinners down here that took him up on his amazing grace..sound like old girl needa remember that WORD ..GRACE..damn it Janet…SURELY SHE. HAS BIGGER THINGS TO WORK ON IN THIS SAD WORLD THAN POTTY MOUTHS..MAYBE HUNGRY MOUTHS HOW BOUT STICK A Spoon OF TATERS IN A HUNGRY CUSSERS MOUTH THAT MIGHT SHUT EM UP A MINUTE HANGRY…MAKE YA CUSS TOO TOOTS JS..🕊️🕊️🙈🙉🙊🙄😘
